As part of NHS Englands initiative to reduce the pressure on GP surgeries, the Pharmacy 1st scheme identifies all conditions that can be dealt with by a Clinical Pharmacist who can prescribe medication. These are conditions such as sore throat, minor skin rashes, urine infection for women and some other minor ailments. A full list can be sought from NHS Englands web page or from the pharmacy direct.
Patients can also self refer to the pharmacy, hence no need to contact the GP.
If you complete an E-consult for one of the qualifying conditions, we will automatically organise a referral on your behalf. The referral will detail your name/date of birth/NHS number (all of which are currently automatically detailed on any prescription we give you), plus the condition for which you are seeking help and your contact telephone .
